Finishing stage is the final part of construction which includes plastering, flooring, painting, etc. This is where the last strokes of touch ups are done before you move in. The check list given below will help you in ensuring proper finishing of your house.
Ensure that you get the plastering done which protects your house from the negative impacts of weather changes. Before plastering, the base surface should be properly cleaned of dust and loose material. The surface should be thoroughly wetted such that it is saturated but touch dry so as to prevent the wall surface from absorbing water from the plaster mix. Also, the mix prepared for plastering should be made in a limited quantity so that it can be used within 30-40 minutes of adding water to the drymix.
The tiles being used should be neat, strong with clear cut edges. While placing the tiles, manufacturer’s recommendation for tile laying should be followed. Further, care should be exercised that wall tiles are not put on the floor, which may cause serious accidents.
Before painting, electric, water supply, sanitary, doors & window work must be completed. Also, uneven surfaces must be filled and walls must be clean. It is advisable to use primer 2 days prior to painting which ensures better adhesion of paint to the surface, increases paint durability & provides additional protection for the material being painted.
