Theatre Personalities Awarded At The Third Edition Of Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited’s Udyamaman Bhraymaman

Guwahati, July 19, 2019: Honouring the talent and the effort of the flourishing Mobile Theatre industry of Assam, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd. organised the third edition of Udyamaman Bhraymaman, Mobile Theatre award at Pragjyotish ITA Centre, Machkhowa, Guwahati today. A one of its kind award ceremony for the Mobile Theatre industry, the program was attended by many prominent theatre personalities.

Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd. has always recognised, encouraged and promoted the art, culture and talent of the region and Udyamaman Bhraymaman is one way of recognising the regional art which has a massive impact on the rural masses.

This year the awards were presented under 26 categories some of which include the Late Aditi Sharma Life Time Achievement Award which was conferred to Krishna Roy, the Best Theatre Team award was presented to Surjya Theatre, Tapan Das won the Best Actor award for Mastaan of Brindaban Theatre while Prastuti Parashar (Madhuri Mur Naam) and Pranjana Dutta (Mirabai) both won the award for Best Actress. Kohinoor Theatre bagged the award for Best Popular Theatre Group, Utpal Das bagged the award for Best Popular Actor and Prastuti Parashar bagged the award for Best Popular Actress.

Presenting the awards at the program, Mr. Sunil Aggarwal, Executive Director, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd. said, “The Mobile Theatre industry of Assam is unique and cannot be compared with any other form of art. Hundreds of people have been contributing towards the industry for years and it is due to this that this industry is flourishing. Udyamaman Bhraymaman, an initiative by Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd. is another step towards this never ending journey.”

Other awards presented this year were – Best Art Director to Paplu, Best Sound Designer to Karna Roy of Hengool Theatre, Best Light Designer to Nirmal Lahkar of Abahan Theatre, Best Choreographer to Uday Shankar, Best Lyrics to Abhijit Bhattacharya of Chiranjeeb Theatre for the play Deuta, Best Background Music to Arupjyoti Baruah of Hengool Theatre for the play Bondukor Kobita, Best Action Director to Dipak Chetri for the play Bondukor Kobita of Hengool Theatre, Best Negative Role to Jivan Hatikakaty for the play Mirabai of Hengool Theatre, Best Comedian to Pranab Sharma for the play Mastaan of Brindaban Theatre, Best Debut – Male to Debasish Borthakur for Beiman Bhagawan of Sudarshan Theatre, Best Debut – Female to Jinu Boro for Makarajal, Best Supporting Actor to Krishnamoni Nath for Radha Na Maane Badha of Kohinoor Theatre, Best Supporting Actress to Girija Sharma for Rajkumarir Biya of Chiranjeeb Theatre, Best Script Writer to Dhrubajyoti Sharma for the play Bhagyabidhata of Rajtilak Theatre, Best Drama to Mirabai of Hengool Theatre and Best Director to Mridul Chutiya for Surjyograhan of Sudarshan theatre.

Zubeen Garg won the RED FM Bajate Raho Best Playback Singer Award – Male for the play Deuta of Chiranjeeb Theatre, Deepshikha Bora and Neelam Noyona both bagged the award for RED FM Bajate Raho Best Playback Singer – Female for the play Umoli Jamuli of Abahan Theatre and Ajoy Phukan won the award for the RED FM Bajate Raho Best Song for the play Deuta of Chiranjeeb Theatre.

The Mobile Theaters for many years have been an important medium of infotainment across rural Assam, with artistes touring around 75-80 town over a season spanning around 247 days with an average of 2 shows per day where performers perform every day without a break. Udyamaman Bhraymaman is to acknowledge this long successful journey.
