Guwahati, 24 June 2017: The first ever Mobile Theatre Awards event in Assam “Dalmia Bharat Cement Udyamaman Bhraymaman”, was a grand success attended by a number of dignitaries from the Mobile Theatre industry, media and members of the civil society. The award ceremony was held on 23rd June at GMCH Auditorium, Guwahati to recognize the efforts of all those involved in the mobile theatre industry.
Mr. Rajiv Prasad, Senior Executive Director, Dalmia Bharat Cement said, “The Mobile theatres have not only been an important medium of entertainment in the rural parts of Assam but also a medium for generating awareness among the public regarding various social issues. Our endeavor is to recognize the efforts of each and every individual associated with this industry through Udyamaman Bhraymaman.”
The Award ceremony had 23 categories including the Aditi Sharma Life Time Achievement Award that was conferred upon Dasarath Das. Abahan Theatre bagged The Best Theatre Award, Radha Ebar Hahi De, of Kohinoor Theatre won the Best Drama Award, Jatin Bora of Surya Theatre won Best Actor and Barsha Rani Bishoya of Kohinoor Theatre won the Best Actress Award.
Other awardees were Dharmendra Nath (Best Comedian) of Chiranjeeb Theatre, Jayanta Das (Best Negative Role) of Bordoisila Theatre, Sanjib Sharma (Best Supporting Actor) of Hengool Theatre, Jonali Devi of Itihas Theatre and Rimjhim of Bhagyadevi Theatre (Best Supporting Actress), Hengool Theatre (Best Dance Group), Paplu (Best Art Director) of Surya Theatre, Kohinoor Theatre (Best Sound team), Surya Theatre (Best Light team), Rajashree Theatre (Best Music Group), Zubeen Garg (Red FM Best Singer) for the song Janam Janam of Kohinoor Theatre, Tajmahal (Red fm Best Song) of Raajtilak Theatre, Tarali Sharma (Best Music Director) of Kohinoor Theatre, Nabadeep (Best Action Director) of Abahan Theatre, Maa Kali (Best Popular Drama) of Abahan Theatre, Itee Phukan (Best Debut)of Brindaban Theatre, Ajay Phukan (Best Lyrics) for the song Janam Janam of Kohinoor Theatre, Pankaj Ingti (Best Choreographer) of Surya Theatre, Abhijit Bhattacharjee (Best Script Writer) for Radha Abar Hahi De of Kohinoor Theatre.
The Awards were given based on popular viewer’s choice. Swapnanil Baruah, retired IAS officer was the Chief Guest at the function which witnessed performances by some popular celebs from the industry.
