Belgaum, May 29, 2024: Reiterating its commitment to empower youth through skill development,
Dalmia Bharat Foundation (DBF), the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of
Dalmia Bharat Ltd. (DBL), inaugurated new batches of its skill development courses at the DIKSHa centre in Belgaum. These courses, which include Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Assistant Beautician Training (ABT) and Assistant Electrician (AE) are generously sponsored by Karur Vysya Bank (KVB). By focusing on practical skills and industry-relevant training, these programs aim to bridge the gap between education and employment, ensuring that the trainees are job-ready upon completion. The inauguration ceremony welcomed 75 eager trainees, with a significant 60% of them being women. The DIKSHa centre in Belgaum facilitates skill training and career enhancement for youth in surrounding communities and has successfully trained over 2300 students till date. Success stories of its alumni are a testament to the impact of these programs in empowering individuals and promoting sustainable livelihoods. Examples being Ms. Vijaylakshmi and Ms.Priyanka, both from previous batches of 2024 cohort of the Assistant Beauty Therapist course, now earning between Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 per month. The ceremony was graced by Dr. M Krishna Raju, K.A.S Project Director, DRDA & Mr. Satish Khanagoudra, Branch Head of KVB Belagavi along with Mr. Ramanagouda Balasaheb Biradar from Dalmia Bharat Foundation.
Commenting on the occasion Prabhat Kumar Singh, DED and Unit Head, Belgaum said, “Dalmia Bharat has been at the forefront of skill development, consistently working towards uplifting communities and contributing to their socio-economic growth. The launch of these new batches underscores our dedication to empowering youth through quality education and training. These programmes are designed to provide comprehensive training, hands-on experience and necessary knowledge, enabling trainees to excel in their chosen fields. We are thrilled to witness the enthusiasm among the trainees and are grateful for the support extended by KVB.”
DIKSHa, the flagship project from Dalmia Bharat Foundation has 20 functional centres across its regions of operations and has trained over 15,709 individuals till date, earning monthly wages ranging from INR 8,000 to INR 20,000. These initiatives significantly improve the quality of life for trainees, reinforcing DBF’s role in promoting sustainable community development. Out of the total enrolled youth in FY 24, 63% were females, underscoring strong gender focus and the significant participation of young women in acquiring essential skills.
