~Aims to promote sustainable livelihood for rural households through entrepreneurship~
Bokaro,14thJune,2024: Taking a significant stride towards promoting self-sufficiency and sustainable economic growth for rural communities,
Dalmia Bharat Foundation (DBF), the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of
Dalmia Bharat Ltd (DBL), India’s leading cement manufacturing company, inaugurated five microenterprises in the village of Gorabali, under the North Gorabali Panchayat, Jharkhand today. The newly inaugurated enterprises include four grocery shops and a cosmetic shop. This initiative is part of DBF’s ongoing efforts to uplift rural communities through targeted interventions under their
Gram Parivartan Project. Microenterprise programs play a vital role in community development and building sustainable livelihoods. By providing financial support and business development training, this program helps individuals create self-sustaining businesses, while strengthening local economies. All the beneficiaries received support under the Gram Parivartan Program to establish their microenterprises, with the DBF team also assisting them in securing loans from banking institutionse, enabling them to start or expand their own businesses. The shops were inaugurated by
Shri Priya Ranjan, Unit Head, Dalmia Cement-Bokaro plant. He was joined by
Shri Balram Panda, Location HR head, DCBL and
Shri Baleshwar Singh Rathore, Mukhiya of the North Gorabali Panchayat along with local community members and other DBF officials.
Commenting on the initiative, Shri Priya Ranjan, Unit Head, Bokaro plant, DCBL said, “At Dalmia Bharat, we are dedicated to grassroots socio-economic development and building opportunities for a sustainable future. The establishment of these microenterprises in Gorabali is expected to generate employment opportunities, improve the standard of living for local residents and encourage further economic activities in the area. These efforts align with our broader mission to enhance the quality of life in rural areas contributing to inclusive development, social stability and self-reliance among community members.”
The Gram Parivartan Project, flagship program of DBF, aims to uplift rural communities by enabling them to achieve sustainable livelihoods. It targets an additional annual income of ₹1,00,000 per household through various interventions in agriculture, skill development, and entrepreneurship. The goal is to reduce poverty and accelerate economic progress, significantly improving the quality of life for rural households.
