Kalyanpur, July 31, 2024: Reinforcing its commitment to skill development and social transformation, Dalmia Bharat Foundation (DBF), the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of Dalmia Bharat Ltd. (DBL), officially inaugurated its DIKSHa (Dalmia Institute of Knowledge and Skill Harnessing) Centre in Kalyanpur, Bihar today. Dedicated to empowering rural youth through comprehensive skill training and sustainable livelihood development, DIKSHa aims to benefit 24 surrounding villages in the region. With an annual capacity for 240 trainees, the DIKSHa centre in Kalyanpur will offer skill training courses in Assistant Electrician and General Duty Assistant – Healthcare. As part of its ongoing efforts, DBF announced the launch of a new batch for the GDA-Healthcare and Assistant Electrician trade, beginning on August 1, 2024. The centre, which had begun operations prior to the official launch, also held a valediction ceremony for 60 candidates, including 30 General Duty Assistants and 30 Assistant Electricians, who had successfully completed their training.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Ashutosh Tiwary, Unit Head, Dalmia Cement – Rohtas said, “At Dalmia Bharat, we are committed to developing inclusive programs making a tangible and positive impact in the lives of marginalized communities. In a country with the world’s youngest and largest workforce, India grapples with considerable skill gaps. Our objective is to bridge these gaps in the nation’s workforce, promoting economic empowerment and an improved quality of life for our youth. Through DIKSHa, we hope to contribute to building a skilled and self-reliant India.”
The DIKSHa centre will have pre-qualified trainers for offering quality skill trainings recruited by DBF. The modules are designed in line with the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF). Besides training, the centre will also facilitate assessment and certification processes and provide placement assistance to candidates across the country.
The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Shri Navin Kumar {IAS} District Magistrate-cum- Collector, District Rohtas, Bihar.. Other key attendees included Shri Bablu Kumar, BDO Rohtas, Ms. Sushi Singh CO, Rohtas, and Gram Panchayat representatives from Samahuta, Banjari and Baknaura.
DIKSHa currently operates 20 centers nationwide offering training in diverse fields, including healthcare, industrial sewing machine operation, data entry operator, solar PV installation among few. To date, over 16,000 individuals have been trained in DIKSHa centers, with 75% securing employment or starting their own enterprises. Notably, more than 50% of the trainees are women, reflecting a strong focus on female empowerment and gender equality.
Dalmia Bharat Foundation focuses on building Sustainable Livelihoods and ensure Rural Development in its program areas.
