"Dalmia Bharat Foundation Empowers Over 900 Farmers In Bihar Through Sustainable Agriculture Training "

~The initiative under Gram Parivartan Yojana aims to promote sustainable livelihood for rural households~

Kalyanpur, January 17, 2024: Dalmia Bharat Foundation (DBF), the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd. (DCBL), India’s leading cement manufacturing company, has taken a significant stride towards promoting agricultural sustainability and enhancing food security in the state of Bihar. The company initiated a comprehensive training on sustainable agriculture practices under their Gram Parivartan Yojana, benefitting 920 farmers from Samahuta, Baknaura and Banjari gram panchayats. Adoption of organic farming practices not only contributes to soil fertility but increase farmers’ productivity and income in the long term. Gram Parivartan Yojana aims to promote economic development in village households and qualitative improvements in the standard of living for targeted families in a region. The training was conducted by Mr. Rajesh Kumar Srivastava, Block Agriculture Officer who covered advanced agricultural methods such as package of onion cultivation practices, vermicompost production methods, Azolla cultivation techniques and the preparation of Jiva Amrit. Also present on the occasion were Mr. Bablu Kumar, Block Development Officer, Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Housing Officer, Mr. Sanjay Jha, Plant HR head-Rohtas Cement Works, DCBL and other key officials

This training is designed to empower farmers to become self-reliant, providing capacity building and agricultural inputs to enhance livelihoods. Dalmia Bharat Foundation distributed in total 214.17kg (330 gms to every farmer) of seeds of ALR variety sourced from the National Horticultural Research and Development Foundation. This allocation allows every farmer to cultivate the seeds on their 2 kathe land. Along with seeds, vermi bags, Azolla bags and Jiva Amrit drums were also distributed. Additionally, farmers were informed about discounts on agricultural schemes offered by the Agriculture Department, covering various inputs like wheat, gram, seeds, hoes, sickles, sprayers, crew pits, and agricultural equipment.

Dalmia Bharat Foundation spearheads community development with a focus on rural upliftment. Through targeted training in agriculture, horticulture and diverse livelihood avenues, DBF empowers women, farmers and youth, elevating their skills and capacities for a positive impact on livelihoods.
