~Aims to promote sustainable agriculture and enhanced income for farming
communities~
Belgaum, June 27, 2024: Taking a significant step
towards promoting sustainable agricultural practices,
Dalmia Bharat Foundation (DBF), the
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of
Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd (DCBL) distributed 400 power sprayer pumps
to farmers from surrounding villages around Yadwad, Belgaum today. The
initiative aims to control crop damage caused by weeds and pests, enhance
agricultural productivity and reduce input costs for farmers. DBF under its
flagship – Gram Parivartan Project, is committed to promoting sustainable
agricultural practices for enhancing food security, improving farmer
livelihoods and further environmental stewardship. This program enabled the
procurement of the pumps on a cost-sharing basis, with farmers and DBF
jointly contributing to the total project. The power sprayer pumps with a
20-liter capacity, were distributed to farmers from seven villages – Yadwad,
Kamanakatti, Koppadatti, Kunnal, Budni, Tondikatti and Gulaganjikoppa.

Cement (Bharat) Ltd., Belgaum, Shri. Basavaraj Bhutali, President of Gram
Panchayat Yadwad, Shri. Rakesh Chikkur, Gram Panchayat EX president from
Tondikatti, Shri. Praveen Raikar, a prominent social worker from Tondikatti
village, Shri. Manjula Patil, Secretary of Gram Panchayat Tondikatti, and
Shri. Basayya Matapathi, a progressive farmer. The event also saw active
participation from local farmers from Budni, Kunnal and Tondikatti”
Programme was organized at Tondikatti avdhut Galeshwar Math.
Commenting on the initiative Mr. Prabhat Kumar Singh, Dy Executive Director and Unit Head – Belgaum said, “Farmers often lack access to updated agricultural knowledge, resources and support systems. At Dalmia Bharat, we aim to reduce the environmental impact of agriculture while boosting productivity and income by enabling farmers to adopt modern and efficient farming techniques. Supporting our farmers enhances their economic well-being and creates a more sustainable and resilient agricultural sector. Through the adoption of modern technology, farmers can anticipate increased crop yields and more efficient resource use, thereby promoting sustainable agricultural practices in the region.”
DBF has a proven track record of supporting agricultural development and rural upliftment in the region through various initiative supporting farmers like vermi composting Azolla cultivation, fodder seeds, goat rearing, animal husbandry, poultry farming and more. To date, a total of 1966 households have benefited from these initiatives.
