Umrangso, 11 August 2024: Reinforcing its unwavering commitment to community development, Dalmia Bharat Foundation (DBF), the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Dalmia Bharat Ltd. (DBL), India’s leading cement today held the inauguration ceremony for the new school building and community hall it has constructed for the villages of Dithur and Langcherui in Umrangso, Assam. The twin events were graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Mr. Debolal Garlosa, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC), Mr. Mohit Hojai, Executive Member, DHAC, Mr. Donpainon Thaosen, EM, DHAC, Mr. Samsing Engti, EM, DHAC and Mr. Yusuf Alamgir, HR Head of Dalmia Bharat Limited along with other distinguished officials, teachers, students and village heads. The newly built infrastructure will benefit over 60 student and 500 community members. Events like village level meetings, SHG meetings, cultural events, social gatherings and health camps now can be held in the convenience of an organized community space.
Umrangso, a small village in Assam’s Dima Hasao district, faces challenges in terms of educational facilities. With limited access to quality education, students in the region often have to travel long distances or settle for schools that lack adequate infrastructure. In addition to the new school building in Dithur, DBF has also renovated the old school building thereby creating additional capacity for students looking for easily accessible education facilities. DBF also has taken a step further by providing modern and well-equipped learning environment.
